NUCLEAR REACTOR ROBOT SIMULATION

What i did

Designed, built, and programmed a robot to autonomously navigate a field and pick up spent “fuel rods” and move them to another location, then replace them with a new rod.

Features

  • Line followers to navigate field

  • Using Bluetooth, the field alerted the robot when a rod needed to be replaced, where the rod was located, and which locations were empty to place a new rod.

  • LCD screen for visual feedback from robot

  • Three wheel drive

  • Four-bar linkage and servo motor for arm actuation. Mechanism has two heights: one for placing rod horizontally and  one for picking rod from vertical stand.

  • Rotary potentiometers and PID loop for linkage control
